Services offered by interns
La Clinique Mestra est fière de contribuer à la formation des sexologues de demain en leur offrant la possibilité d’effectuer leur stage auprès de notre clientèle. Par un processus de rencontres individuelles des candidat·e·s, nous nous assurons de sélectionner des étudiant·e·s ayant un intérêt marqué ainsi que des expériences préalables auprès des diversités et des personnes marginalisées. Nos stagiaires offrent les deux types de services, relation d’aide or psychotherapy sessions.

Les stagiaires en sexologie, soit en relation d’aide (baccalauréat) ou en psychothérapie (maîtrise), sont des étudiant·e·s en fin de parcours académiques. Iels offrent habituellement des services entre septembre et mai/juin, chaque année. En plus d’être encadré·e·s par l’équipe de professionel·le·s de la Clinique Mestra, iels sont supervisé·e·s en individuel par un·e sexologue d’expérience ainsi que par des cours-séminaires à l’UQAM.
Counselling interns
Sessions with counselling interns begin around October and end in March.
Sessions are held weekly. The preferential intern rate (first tier of the sliding scale) may be applied if you are in a precarious financial situation or if you are a full-time student.
N.B.: At the request of the department, individuals currently studying sexology at UQAM are not eligible to receive services from interns.
Psychotherapy interns
Sessions with psychotherapy interns begin in September and end in May/June at the latest.
Sessions are weekly and in person. An exception may be made for virtual sessions, but the assessment process (approximately the first five meetings) must be done in person.

In order to ensure the quality of services, sessions are recorded on video. Excerpts from the sessions are viewed as part of the intern's training, particularly by their supervisor. It is important to note that it is not you who are being evaluated in the videos, but rather the intern's learning process. The goal is to promote their professional development. The videos are stored on UQAM's cloud platform in accordance with confidentiality criteria. After the internship, all videos are deleted and no copies are retained. If you have any questions or concerns about the recordings, discuss them with your training professional, who will be able to answer your questions and, if necessary, reassure you.
